SWAROVSKI HAUTE COUTURE SPRING/SUMMER 2016
SWAROVSKI EXTENDS SUPPORT TO ALEXANDRE VAUTHIER FOR EIGHTH SEASON
Swarovski continues its ongoing support for haute couture with a new collaboration with designer Alexandre Vauthier on his Spring/Summer 2016 show. This latest collection marks the eighth time the French couturier has been supported by Swarovski for his internationally renowned haute couture collections.
Debuting with his Spring/Summer Autumn Winter 2012 collection, Swarovski has supported the French designer for the past seven seasons of his haute couture collections. During the upcoming haute couture fashion week Swarovski will once again be providing support for Vauthier’s show, set to be held at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs on Tuesday 26 January.
Acclaimed for his trademark thigh-splits, cut-out details and asymmetric red carpet glamour, Alexandre Vauthier is a highly regarded international talent, working across ready-to-wear womenswear and haute couture.
Over previous the past seven seasons, Swarovski crystal and pearls in a glittering range of colors, cuts and finishes have been paired with sleek silks, lace, furs, leather, feathers, python, crocodile and metallic accents to create ensembles which celebrate both the craftsmanship of Paris’s haute couture ateliers and Alexandre Vauthier’s own striking creative vision.
Swarovski has a long history in fashion, dating back to the early days of Paris’s haute couture industry. In the late 19th century Daniel Swarovski travelled from his native Austria to the French capital to meet with the first stars of couture from Charles Frederick Worth to Jeanne Lanvin, returning each season with ever more complex and brilliant crystal cuts for their collections.
The company’s place at the heart of the industry has remained a constant. Archival pieces featuring Swarovski crystal dating back over the past 100 years were displayed at the 2013 ‘Paris Haute Couture’ exhibition curated by Olivier Saillard at the city’s Hotel de Ville, and dresses and gowns by Jeanne Lanvin were on show in 2015 at the Palais Galliera’s Jeanne Lanvin retrospective.
Nadja Swarovski, Member of the Swarovski Executive Board, commented: “Swarovski’s heritage in the industry dates back to the beginning of haute couture and the founding of the company in 1895. We are delighted to continue our support for Alexandre Vauthier; the energy and the creative exuberance of his collections are always impressive and incredibly impactful.”
Swarovski has also worked with Alexandre Vauthier on an exclusive behind-the-scenes film which explores the creative inspirations contained within the designer’s Spring/Summer 2016 haute couture collection.
